“I am a ceramic artist making hand-built, multi layered sculptures that tell stories and communicate ideas.
The ‘Ancient Toys’ project is inspired by the universal appeal of toys that date back as far as 1600BC. The surface treatment of this collection gives the impression of toys being rescued from the earth. This project evolved into the ‘Regeneration’ project that communicates the hope that the natural world will be treated better by the next generation. The ‘Endangered Species’ project also has its origins in the ancient toys project as the animals are on wheels, as if they are toys. My concern is that all too soon representations of these animals maybe all that is left.
After teaching for 16 years in local F.E. Colleges, I completed an MA in Craft at Brighton University. My studio is in Lewes, East Sussex and I sell my work through galleries and at shows.”
